
COVID-19 Vaccine is Already in Georgia
The first, 43 200 dosages of COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca manufactured by Swedish-British company arrived in Tbilisi International Airport this morning.
The World Health Organization has authorized the AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use. In Georgia, pursuant to legislation, the vaccine is granted with the right of import and use in the country by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and National Regulation Agency.
129 600 dosages of AstraZeneca and 29 250 dosages of Pfizer, anticipated to be delivered before the end of May, are allocated by COVAX for Georgia. In order to ensure geographic accessibility, the plan of distribution of the vaccine countrywide has been already developed by the Ministry of Health.
At this stage, 82 vaccination facilities are involved in the immunization process. From March 15 the vaccination will be launched in 29 sites; In Tbilisi and in all regional centers, the cabinets with long experience of immunization have been designated for COVID-19 vaccination: 10 - in Tbilisi, 4-4 - in Kutaisi and Batumi, 2-2 - in Rustavi and Zugdidi, and 1 per each regional center.
On March 17, 35 facilities will be added. 23 facilities will be added on March 19. Within one week the immunization process will cover all municipality centers.
The vaccination is done twice. The second vaccination is done in 8-12-week period. The vaccinated people will receive the certificate of vaccination.
The medical personal has a paramount role in safeguarding and sustainability of public health. Thus their protection by means of vaccination is the priority for the State.
According to the National Plan, the vaccination starts with medical personnel.
The process of distribution and full delivery to the regions and municipalities will be completed during Saturday and Sunday of current week.
COVID-19 vaccination registration manual has been developed to manage prepared for immunization flows in e-system, where the representatives of healthcare field, selected by the National plan as the first priority group will be registered.
At the first stage, the personnel who do not have COVID-19 infection status during the last 120 days will be vaccinated. According to the latest data, 64 051 persons are registered in the e-platform, out of this 54 000 are subject to vaccination.
The registration for COVID-19 vaccination: selection of preferred medical facility, date, time, booking for appointment, is possible in e-system for management of personnel’s flow, from March 13, after 12:00 noon.
The trainings of the personnel and persons involved in the process have been already completed.
Georgia is ready to start unimpeded process of vaccination.
The National Plan of Vaccination, envisages vaccination of 60% of population during the year of 2021.
