
Tamar Gabunia Meets with World Diabetes Foundation Board
Tamar Gabunia met with the members of The World Diabetes Foundation Board of Directors. Deputy Minister of Health presented projects on diabetes mellitus implemented and ongoing in the country to the guests. The participants of the meeting reflected on program’s novelties. As it was noted at the meeting, it’s already the second year, that the country has been ensuring procurement of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems for the beneficiaries.
Geographic accessibility to the Diabetes Management Program has been expanded as well.
The representatives of The World Diabetes Foundation positively assessed the projects implemented in this field and expressed readiness for further strengthening of cooperation.
The participants of the meeting dwelt upon elaboration of diabetes management guidelines, which envisages retraining of doctors of various specialties, implementation of the principles of multidisciplinary management of the disease, effective coordination across healthcare system.
It is notable that WDF is a donor organization for diabetes projects globally providing funding for 119 countries. The projects are aimed at improved diabetes prevention and care.
