
Universal Healthcare Program is 10 Years Old
- Program covers both planned and urgent medical services, cardio-surgery, planned surgery services, child birth, Cesarean session, oncology, urgent ambulatory services, including immunization, services of family doctor and specialized doctor, necessary examinations, medicines for treatment of chronic diseases, etc.
- State continues its efforts towards improved coverage and quality of services, to increase efficiency of response to comprehensive population’s needs with program resources. With this end in view, new Diagnosis-related group (DRG) funding model has become operational from November 1.
- In addition, starting from 2025 all clinics involved in State Universal Healthcare Program will be obliged to comply with international standards accreditation. This concerns international standards of medical facility, quality of services, qualification of medical personnel, infrastructure arrangements. The reform is aimed at provision of quality medical services to citizens of Georgia and creation of powerful quality control mechanism.
