Citizens Over 45 to Get Vaccinated with AstraZeneca
“Citizens over 45 will get involved in the process of vaccination with AstraZeneca”, - stated First Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Tamar Gabunia at the briefing held after completion of the meeting of Immunization Council.
Citizens over 45 can get registered at https://booking.moh.gov.ge, starting from tomorrow, 20:00. The citizens can get registered trough hotline 15 22 as well.
“Last week Germany made a decision to lift AstraZeneca age limit. As a result of risk assessment and additional consultations, Immunization Council supported the issue of reduction of age limitation threshold. Citizens over 45 can book vaccination starting from tomorrow, 20:00. Possible complications, that served as a basis for setting age limit in various countries are very rare”, - stated Tamar Gabunia.
The members of the Council also discussed Sinovac vaccine (Sinovac Biotech). Expanded Council on Immunization and Vaccination will discuss the topic of relatively early use of Sinovac vaccine with the Government. The process of WHO authorization of Sinovac is in final stage.
According to Tamar Gabunia, the WHO decision on authorization has not been made yet. Though the intermediate positive conclusion of strategic experts group on outcomes of Sinovac use is already in place.
Besides, the registration for second shot of Sinopharm vaccine will be opened tomorrow, at 20:00.
As of 11th May, 67 136 vaccinations are conducted in Georgia.
