A memorandum was signed with the international organization of migration

The Memorandum for successful regulation and management of labor migration processes was signed between the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and International Organization for Migration (IOM). The document was signed by the Deputy Minister of Health Tamila Barkalaia and Head of IOM Iliana Derilova.

Besides Poland, negotiations takes place with three more EU countries in order to implement temporary and circular migration. As a result of cooperation development, illegal labor migration from Georgia will transform to valid employment; Therefore, the risks associated with illegal employment abroad will be reduced. Labor and social rights of labor migrants will be promoted, economic ties between Georgia and the receiving countries will be strengthened; Returned participants of the project will be able to use their professional knowledge and organizational skills to get better revenues in Georgia so they will contribute to local business development and the country's economic progress.

Initiating bilateral cooperation in the field of temporary labor migration with the EU countries will be a guarantee of maintaining a visa-free regime and reduce the credibility of the "suspension mechanism".

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia cooperate within the framework of EU-funded project "Sustainability of Border and Migration Management in Georgia" (SBMMG).
